When Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order arrived in November 2019 it didn’t take long to turn into a fan favourite which sold more than ten million copies by 2020, most people were wondering if Respawn Entertainment will keep developing this series and in January we saw a beacon of hope after they confirmed it.
Today the studio announced that the awaited sequel, Star Wars Jedi:Survivor will arrive next year and will be out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Star Wars Celebration outdoing itself every passing day
As expected the announcement was released at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022, with a surprise teaser where we can see Cal Kestis again alongside his loyal droid BD-1.
Actually, StarWars.com spoke with Respawn’s Stig Asmussen, director of both Star Wars Jedi games who gave us a good glimpse of what the tone of Jedi: Survivor’s teaser might mean and how the current-gen consoles help with the development.
“So I think the biggest thing is ray tracing, or lighting. That’s allowing us to do real-time lighting, all the time, at a fidelity that’s well beyond anything that we’ve ever produced before. […] That means that we have more time to polish, that means that we can iterate more, and we can get better results that feel more filmic.”
Besides the fastest production rhythm, he noted that the PlayStation 5 has some interesting haptics on their controller that they are digging into, hopefully, we will see the result soon.
On the other hand, regarding the mysterious and menacing feeling of this teaser, Asmussen confirmed that they intended to leave the player intrigued as this game is all about survival and Cal will need to do whatever to save his life.
We will leave the "mysterious" trailer below, don’t forget to share your opinions in the comments:
