Earlier today, a couple of video game-related journalists stumbled upon an exciting announcement on PlayStation Direct’s website. And all of a sudden, the information was gone. Turns out that the famous publisher alongside Naughty Dog, has just announced that The Last of Us Part I would arrive on PlayStation 5 and PC. The news came with a release trailer too:
The article also revealed that the PlayStation 5 version would be out on September 2 for $69.99. A “Firefly Edition” will also be available. Unluckily, the release date for the PC version was not announced.
Here is an overview of the game via Gematsu (found on PlayStation Direct before it was erased):
Experience the emotional storytelling and unforgettable characters of Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us, winner of over 200 Game of the Year awards and now rebuilt for PlayStation 5.
Enjoy a total overhaul of the original experience, faithfully reproduced but incorporating modernized gameplay, improved controls, and expanded accessibility options. Plus, feel immersed with improved effects and enhanced exploration and combat. The Last of Us Part I includes the complete The Last of Us single-player story (PS5) and celebrated prequel chapter, Left Behind.
UPDATE:
During the Summer Game Fest announcements, there was a brief moment for Naughty Dog, in which The Last of Us Part I was confirmed alongside its official trailer, for next year. Additonal to this confirmation, there was a sneak peek of TLOU TV show, coming to HBO (release date to be confirmed). It was said that this series will be "the most authentic game adaptation ever".
