It’s been almost three years since the mind-blowing Joker movie came out. The story was perfectly written, and the characters were scary but fantastic. There was much to study and reflect on in the film—simply a work of art. And obviously, such a hit led to the fans asking for a sequel, precisely one that could invite the bat into the story.
After director Todd Phillips confirmed a second installment of the acclaimed movie, the fans assumed all kinds of things. Just recently, Phillips revealed an essential part of the upcoming movie.
Last week, Phillips shared on his Instagram account the title of the movie, Joker: Folie à deux. And according to The Hollywood Reporter, “while the same social media post showed Phoenix reading the script, the actor’s involvement is not exactly a legal fait accompli just yet — Warners has yet to close a deal with the actor, with the two sides deep into it.”
THE NEW MOVIE COULD TAKE UNEXPECTED TURNS
But that’s not it. It turns out that pop star, composer, designer, and Oscar-winner Lady Gaga could join the cast. Sources have revealed to THR that Phillips is still in talks with Gaga, but it looks like she could be impersonating Joker’s toxic love interest, Harley Quinn. This new addition would detach the movie from the DC canon, in which Margo Robbie plays the same role.
And last but not least, the movie sequel is a musical. You read right. Dancing and singing moments will set the mood for Joker: Folie à deux. Yes, Philips has previously worked with Gaga in A Star Is Born, but it’s still uncertain how he will manage to deliver a second part of the story with a musical element.
