Who doesn't love a good pixel-ar game? Dreamed Away is an upcoming RPG being published by Pineapple Works, set to launch for Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam) next year.
While this game may seem to be warm and safe on the surface, deep inside hides an unsettling vibe that's akin to Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away.
Dreamed Away focuses on the sibling bond between Théo and his sister Louise in a small French village in Brittany. The brother wishes to reconnect with his sister, but suffers from deep emotional issues, this is where it turns into something a bit darker.
The game is being developed by only one person, Nicolas Petton, who says the inspiration for this game come from the birth of his second child.
We cannot help but remember EarthBound when we take a closer look at the character designs, and even though the characters and the calm village make us feel secure, we shouldn't let our guard down at any moment.
The combat also reminds us of Undertale, but in Dreamed Away, combat is a little more real-time, and you need to dodge and react with attacks at the same time.
