As many of the Tekken fans already know (and those who don’t, now you do), the franchise has had previous stories told in the past. The first anime version of the franchise didn’t make it too far in its time, but now a more extensive and substantial proposal will prove to fans that transmedia content can be successful.
Netflix took the classic fighting game to bring a brand-new series exclusive to the streaming platform. Until now, we didn’t know what to expect from it, but today the red N gave us a scoop on the upcoming animated series.
The new anime adaptation of Tekken was announced to be in the works a few months back. Today, Netflix stated that Tekken: Bloodline has now been scheduled for a release on the streaming platform on August 18. Aside from the release date announcement, a new trailer was also revealed. The video gives an idea to the fans of what to expect from this upcoming adaptation.
Here is the story synopsis and official trailer for Tekken: Bloodline (via Netflix):
“Power is everything.” Jin Kazama learned the family self-defense arts, Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts, from his mother at an early age. Even so, he was powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, and changing his life forever. Angry at himself for being unable to stop it, Jin vowed revenge and sought absolute power to exact it. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage — The King of Iron Fist Tournament.
Luckily we won’t have to wait too long to find out more about Tekken: Bloodline.
