The Pokémon Trading Card Game has always been very popular with many people, including players who love to duel with others in casual matches or compete in tournaments, and collectors who want to catch all the cards.
However, there is one element of these cards that usually doesn't get the attention and admiration that it should: their impressive art.
Probably with this in mind, The Pokémon Company decided to host the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Online Illustration Exhibition, which will "open his digital doors" for a limited time this August.
Gotta appreciate 'em all!
As stated in the offical press release, the exhibition features three different themes that fans can explore any time during the period of the exhibition: Life, History, and Artist.
Life, provides a glimpse of the habitats and routines of Pokémon; History folows the evolution of Pokémon TCG illustrations since their beginnings in 1996, and Artist shows the different approaches that artists take to capturing a single Pokémon.
"Want a closer look at the artwork? Select the card you’re interested in to better view details you might not previously have noticed. And to get a better understanding of what the artist was thinking when they created the card, the exhibition features comments from the creators who designed each piece on display. With 50 artists each commenting on one of their illustrations, it’s a rare and exciting opportunity to learn more about the talented minds behind the art. The exhibition includes pieces from artists including Megumi Mizutani, Akira Egawa, and many more."
Whether you play the TCG or not, this seems like a great chance to look closely and appreciate the amazing artwork on each card that no Pokémon fan should miss.
The Pokémon Trading Card Game: Online Illustration Exhibition will be on display from August 10 through October 22.
