A few days ago, the arrival of Alan Horn at Warner Bros. Discovery as a new advisor was confirmed. His mission: to help David Zaslav, the company's new CEO, with all film productions.
When talking about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the name that first comes to mind as the main responsible is Kevin Feige, who has been the president of Marvel Studios and the primary producer of all MCU's movies since 2007. However, someone who we should not forget is Alan Horn.
Who is Alan Horn
Alan Horn, born February 28, 1943, is a native of Long Island City. He began his career at 20th Century Fox, holding various positions before founding Castle Rock Entertainment, which today is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. He was responsible for overseeing such films as A Few Good Men and When Harry Met Sally, as well as the cult series Seinfeld.
Thanks to his work, he managed to become director of operations at Warner for 12 years. During that time, he was responsible for greenlighting hit movies like the Harry Potter saga and Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. He also was the executive producer of al The Lord of the Rings saga.
In 2012, Horn left Warner to soon become the chairman of Walt Disney Studios from 2012 to 2021, being a great promoter of the first phases of the MCU. Likewise, he served as creative from 2019 to 2021, leaving Disney on December 31, 2021.
As we mentioned at the beginning, Alan Horn is now part of Warner Bros. Discovery as a consultant.
Only time will tell if Horn is capable of steering the next decade of DC movies down the right direction, but he certainly seems to have the right profile for the job.
