Rumor: A subtle hint of TEKKEN 8 was spotted at EVO 22

Bandai Namco could’ve suggested the IP’s arrival during the event

For seven years, TEKKEN 7 has established itself as one of the top fighting games worldwide. But as we all can agree, the time has arrived for the next TEKKEN installment. And last weekend, we had a small and confusing glimpse of what would be the confirmation of TEKKEN 8. Uncertain but promising, a teaser released as part of this year’s EVO edition left everyone wondering if it was the real deal.

The video itself is majestic but also intriguing. So, what’s the big deal about it? Let’s go back a year and a half ago when the last TEKKEN 7’s update was revealed. Since then, we didn’t know anything about Bandai Namco’s franchise. And this past weekend, a new trailer with new updates were shared. Setting aside the “new tactics” and the TEKKEN World Tour in Amsterdam next year, something else at the end of the trailer blew everyone’s mind.

After a nostalgic exhibit of the original TEKKEN title, a close-up of Kazuya suddenly turned into a 3D model of the character we had never seen before. So yeah, it was right there; now what?

According to FTW, this could be a new entry in the Tekken series but not a mainline one. However, Tekken Tag Tournament is a beloved sub-series, and fans would not complain about Tekken Tag Tournament 3 being the next game in the series.

Fortunately, these suspicions will bring more substantial info regarding a new TEKKEN title. But, for the time being, we’ll have to be patient and wait.

What are your thoughts about this? Do you think Bandai confirmed TEKKEN 8? Let us know in the comment section!
