One of the most anticipated and controversial games that will come out this year is Overwatch 2; in case you do not remember, we are close to its official launch on October 4, so the news about what is coming has been emerging.
As we already know, Overwatch 2 will be different mainly because of its new free-to-play model. As you can imagine, changing something so essentially means that there will be many new features to be able to monetize, so there will be battle passes, skins, cosmetics, and others.
However, something that did not make everyone very happy is that a ResetEra user detected an update made on the Overwatch 2 Battle.net page in which it was suggested that the newly introduced heroes would not be accessible to players from the beginning, so you will most likely have to pay for a battle pass to use them.
The updated description of the game's Watchpoint Bundle, which includes the Season 1 Premium Battle Pass, says that as owners of the pass, "you will automatically receive access to Overwatch's latest hero, Kirkiko."
To all this, Jon Spector, the commercial leader of Overwatch, clarified doubts on Twitter, mentioning that there will be new heroes available in the "free track" of the pass, so at least players will not have to spend money to use them.
Addressing some incomplete info posted early about our Overwatch 2 Battle Pass – we'll be sharing all details ahead of launch, but want to confirm that new Overwatch 2 heroes will be available on the free track of the Battle Pass.

And he also took the opportunity to clarify that the heroes also benefited from free tracks for future seasons; if you did not unlock one in time, you would still have the chance to do so at another time.
We will have free paths to get new heroes in future seasons too.

Overwatch 2 is launching on October 4 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
