Today was the day that social media revealed interesting information from uncommon sources. Former Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO Shawn Layden has announced on a LinkedIn update that he will join Tencent Games as a strategic advisor. It’s been three years since Shawn Layden left SIE, and now a future awaits for the renowned businessman.

Now that he will be part of the Tencent family, he will bring a fresh perspective to the multinational company. Lately, the Chinese tech enterprise has proven to be looking forward to the future in gaming with important alliances such as the one made with Logitech and Ubisoft.
Layden stated on his LinkedIn account: “I am delighted to share that I have recently joined Tencent Games as a strategic advisor. In this new role, I hope to advise, assist, and support the team at Tencent as they deepen their activities and commitments within the industry to which I’ve devoted the majority of my career.
“We are at an epoch-defining moment in gaming and interactive entertainment,” Layden continued. “There are many possible roads ahead, but only a few are profound, broadening, inclusive, edifying, inspiring, and/or sustainable. I am thrilled to continue this journey of discovery and thank Tencent for the opportunity.”
