The LoL 2022 World Championship is around the corner and we can’t be more excited for a month-long of matches where the best players in the world will show us once again why League of Legends remains one of the most important esports games in the world.
Now, as the day comes closer and closer is clear that an event of such magnitude deserves an anthem that complements the excitement of this tournament. So, this week, it was announced that the famous rapper and composer Montero Lamar Hill, better known as Lil Nas X, is the artist behind the main theme of this year's League of Legends World Championship.
The musician launched today STAR WALKIN', a song that is now available for free listening on YouTube, Spotify and other platforms.
In the words of Carrie Dunn, Global Creative Director of Esports at Riot Games, "STAR WALKIN" perfectly captures the relentless competitive drive of our pros; that burning desire to claim your place in history and reach the stars. It’s the essence of each pro’s journey to the World Final and lifting the coveted Summoner’s Cup.”
She also explained that this new anthem aims to inspire professional players, excite fans and prepare an audience for the “ultimate competitive showdown”, and in her opinion STAR WALKIN’ definitely does that.
There is an official MV!
The Worlds 2022 anthem deserves an incredible music video and precisely the track debuted with an animated video showing some pro players as they tour San Francisco, the city that will host this year's tournament. Of course, it is also possible to observe some giant mechas that make reference to champions in the game.
As we informed you before, Lil Nas X is much more than the musician behind this song, as he will also serve as president of League of Legends where he had the honour of designing a skin for champion K'Sante as part of a collaboration that will last throughout the competitive event.
Remember that Worlds 2022 will open its doors with the Play-ins phase on September 29 at the Arena esports Stadium in Mexico City. There, 12 teams from multiple regional leagues will give them all to win.
