Ah, Junji Ito, what would we be without his amazing yet weird works, especially during this season? Netflix knows it and yesterday decided to publish the official opening for Junji Ito: Japanese Tales of the Macabre just to excite us a little more.
The anthology will debut next year, specifically on January 19, with several stories previously published by the mangaka. If you want an exact number, the animated show will feature more than 20 stories, including Hanging Balloon, Ice Cream Truck, Tomb Town, Library Vision and Headless Statue. We honestly can't wait.
Marvellous!
Ok, but back to the news… The opening clip is almost 2-minute long but we are already hyped, the song is performed by MADKID and the single is called Paranoid. To be fair, the video is pretty trippy but if you watch the whole thing you will find a set of quick clips of the episodes at the end of it.
Without further due, here is the opening:

In a more technical matter, the anime series will be directed by Shinobu Tagashira who also directed Junji Ito: Collection another anime-anthology with Ito’s works, also released on Netflix.
On the other hand, it has been reported that Studio DEEN is once again in charge of the animation and the production, so if you have seen series like Hozuki’s Coolheadedness, and Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju, you already know the quality of their work.
We honestly can't wait, however, the question is… Are you ready for Junji Ito: Maniac? Share your opinions in the comments below.
