Last August, Riot Games developer Matt "Phroxzon" Leung-Harrison shocked the League of Legends community by declaring that they might stop releasing champions at some point in the future. Thanks to League of Legends executive producer Jeremy Lee, today comes to the denial: they will never stop adding characters.
The executive producer of the MOBA addressed various aspects surrounding the title's future in an interview with ComicBook, claiming that a halt to the release of unannounced samples is highly improbable due to the many ideas that Riot Games is already working on and intends to work on. Perhaps the release cadence will lessen, but that appears to be a long way off.
What did Jeremy have to say?
These are Lee's words: ''The reality is that we keep finding things that the game needs and that we think players will love. When that stops, then we'll stop making champions. I can't really see that that would ever happen.''
''I think what we might do instead is change the cadence of new champion releases. We used to release multiple champions every two weeks, and we've tried different sorts of release cadences in the past, but League is an always evolving and changing game. Champions are a great part of that,'' Lee said.

Riot has been releasing as many as 4-5 champions every year on League of Legends for the past two years, and who knows when that will stop. Given the mid-scope changes and revamp of old characters, it feels like there are up to 8-9 new champions every year.
