It's not a secret how much Cyberpunk Edgerunners helped Cyberpunk 2077, actually, CD Projekt shared during its third-quarter earnings call today, that the company had the best third quarter ever (from July to September) after the series boosted the sales of the game.
According to their report, the company generated profits of up to $21.3 million and according to a Tweet posted back in September this year by its official Twitter account, they have sold over 20 million copies.

As we were saying this incredible success would not be possible without Netflix’s anime and the Polish company is completely aware of it. So, after Michał Nowakowski, CD Projekt’s SVP of business development was asked during the earnings call if they were planning a second season of Cyberpunk Edgerunners the answer didn’t surprise us.
“We are not confirming any specific plans [for a] second season of Edgerunners or anything super specifically. We have an appetite to do more in the transmedia, so in linear visual animation or live action, and those plans have not changed, so when we are ready you may expect to see more announcements in that regard coming from us”.
Stream platform magic
So far, CD Projekt has bet on transmedia adaptations of its games with very good results, since besides Cyberpunk Edgerunners which hit Netflix’s top 10 lists in 19 countries, the live-action series of The Witcher has obtained important numbers.
By now, we have to wait for the next CD Projekt’s next game, however, with this strategy, we are equally excited (or maybe even more) to see the stream project that will follow. Remember, Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Stadia, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
