A few months ago, on October 15, 2023, four of Junji Ito's horror stories were officially announced by Netflix via Twitter to be animated in the new anime series Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre.
The anime series will consist of 20 titles recently revealed by Netflix, along with some cast members playing the role of two different characters' stories.

Netflix announced all 20 Junji Ito's titles to be animated, and some of these titles differ from the official titles in the English publication of Ito's manga. Without further ado, the stories are the following:
- "The Strange Hikizuri Siblings"
- "The Story of the Mysterious Tunnel"
- "Ice Cream Bus"
- "Hanging Balloon"
- "Four x Four Walls"
- "The Sandman’s Lair"
- "Intruder"
- "Long Hair in the Attic"
- "Mold"
- "Library Vision"
- "Tomb Town"
- "Layers of Terror"
- "The Thing that Drifted Ashore"
- "Tomie・Photo"
- "Unendurable Labyrinth"
- "The Bully"
- "Alley"
- "Headless Statue"
- "Whispering Woman"
- "Soichi's Beloved Pet"
In Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre's official website a visual was shared showcasing "The Strange Hikizuri Siblings" story. You can witness the image below:
Some cast members recently unveiled are Shoko Nakagawa as Mayumi Santo, Mie Sonozaki as Mitsu Uchida in "Whispering Woman," and Tomoko Kaneda as Coron in "Soichi's Beloved Pet."
While we already have an official teaser clip uploaded on November 17, its opening theme song was premiered two weeks before that. The clip doesn't show us much about the anime, but you can watch it below:

A previous anime adaptation given to Ito's stories is named Junji Ito Collection, which aired in 2018. And this new animated series is expected by fans to be even better. However, others are happy by seeing their favorite characters come to life with movement and voice.
Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre will premiere worldwide on Netflix on January 19, 2023.
