The combat system of The Elder Scrolls is often seen as the weakest aspect of Bethesda's role-playing saga, and Skyrim is no exception. For this reason, modder Machinegod 420 has created an alternative combat system inspired by games such as For Honor and Kingdom Come Deliverance.
The mod's main goal (downloadable here) is to convey a more realistic feel to the player through a combat system based on directional hits. Changes to damage and movement speed are also included, and stamina has been added along with a staggered approach.
What exactly is this mod about, then?
''Want something more realistic (but not that realistic) than the usual action RPG mechanics? Tired of jumping and rolling around instead of clashing swords? Want some more depth to your melee combat? Then this mod is for you!'' The official description reads.
''This is a directional combat mod inspired by multiple sword-fighting games such as Kingdom Come Deliverance and Mordhau but is not an exact copy of any one of them, just takes mechanics from them. It is intended to add new mechanics and depth to the relatively meh combat system in Skryim right now.''

Machinegod 420's work may make 1v1 fights overly arduous, which is why it is recommended to add Monitor144's "Wait Your Turn" mod to make fights more fair and balanced.
