Overwatch 2 received a lot of criticism at launch due to its less-than-ideal monetization model. Blizzard Entertainment listened to these comments and in Season 3 introduced changes to improve the experience. While players welcomed these new features with open arms, there was also room for controversy.

Now, players can earn Credits when leveling up in the Battle Pass. That currency is used to purchase skins and more cosmetic items, but only those that debuted in the 2016 release. So, to buy the newest items in the store, Overwatch Coins are necessary, which are obtained by completing weekly challenges or with real money.

The problem is that the Credits that appeared in the Battle Pass had the same color and a very similar icon to the Overwatch Coins, so it is possible that some users believed that they were going to be able to obtain the premium currency used to purchase the newest items.

Many fans took to social networks and forums to express their discontent. Some even accused Blizzard Entertainment of trying to mislead players. Although it is not known whether it was a mistake or a deliberate decision, the developer studio listened to these comments and finally took action on the matter.

This week, an update debuted that fixed some problems and introduced minor changes to the core experience. Also, the color of the Credits that appear in the Battle Pass was modified; to avoid any confusion, they are now white instead of gold, so distinguishing them from the premium coins is much easier. While the change is welcome, some players still believe that the company tried to mislead fans into believing that the Battle Pass, which costs approximately $9.99 USD, had more value by including the premium currency.
