A recent leak hinted at the future of Switch, as it revealed details of a new model that will supposedly arrive later this year. Specifically with the second part of the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet expansion. Now, a reliable source commented on the information and backed it up.
Jeff Grubb, a journalist at Giant Bomb, has repeatedly spoken out about Switch reviews and its successor. This week he echoed the recent leak and claimed that he has heard something similar. For that reason, he also expects a new Switch this year.
In a recent broadcast on his YouTube channel, Grubb talked about the possibility of seeing another Switch in the coming months. He claimed that his sources have given him similar reports about a new model of Nintendo's console for the winter of this year. However, he clarified that several of his sources are not entirely convinced by the reports, so they rule out the possibility of Nintendo revealing a new console later this year and distributing it for the upcoming holiday season.
For years we've had rumors about a more powerful Switch version. The original leak spoke of a patch to optimize Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's graphics for "new Nintendo Switch models," which to many suggests more power.
However, this is simply speculation and the reality is that nothing has been confirmed for now. Although Grubb is a reliable source, he does not have a clear-cut stance on the subject. Furthermore, Nintendo has not given any hints about new hardware.
