A new rumor has just surfaced claiming that Activision's Vicarious Visions was involved in a new game in the Donkey Kong saga for Switch. As you probably remember, leaker Zippo shared a while back that Nintendo was working on a new Donkey Kong installment in 2D and using the same team that delivered Super Mario Odyssey.
However, new information is now circulating about it, where it is said that said project is not in 2D, but it is a 3D platform title that was in charge of Activision.
According to the new rumor shared by Famiboards, the game was being developed by Vicarious Visions, a studio that started it in 2016 with the supervision of Shigeru Miyamoto, who was giving the go-ahead to the progress.
Nevertheless, the project was moved to Nintendo EPD Tokyo in 2018, shortly after the release of the latest Mario installment, to give the project a reboot and put it on track for the hybrid console's successor.
It's worth mentioning that such a game could be planned to launch at a date close to when Super Nintendo World receives its new Donkey Kong-themed area, so it wouldn't be too far away from being presented.

All of this information is merely a rumor and we will have to stay tuned for any official announcement from Nintendo regarding its short and mid-term plans. As long as there are no official statements, it is always better to be on the defensive and not to get our hopes up, and we will let you know when we get the official announcement.
