Sonic the Hedgehog was a resounding success and fans are eagerly awaiting the third installment of this adventure. At the same time, they are also impatient for the series starring Knuckles, which was announced last year with the return of Idris Elba as the popular Echidna.
There is good news, as more details of that production have just been revealed for Paramount+. An important part of its cast was confirmed and it was revealed that Jeff Fowler, director of the Sonic movies, will be involved in the project. He will be the director of the pilot episode.
What we know about Knuckles, the new Sonic series
Thanks to a report from Variety, we know that actor Adam Pally will appear in the series as Wade Whipple. Of course, it was reaffirmed that Idris Elba will play Knuckles. Another familiar face will be actress Tika Sumpter, who will return as Maddie Wachowski.
We know that the cast will be complemented by actors and actresses such as Rory McCann, Edi Patterson, Julian Barratt, Scott Mescudi and Ellie Taylor, whose roles were not revealed. There is still no premiere date for the series on Paramount+, but we do know that production has already begun in London.
What will the series be about? It was confirmed that it will be set between the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3. So we will see Knuckles train Wade, who will learn the "ways of the Echidna warrior".
On the other hand, it was confirmed that Jeff Fowler will direct the pilot episode, whose script is in charge of John Whittington. In case you don't know, he also worked on the story for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and will be both the executive producer and lead writer for Knuckles.
He will be teaming up with Brian Schacter and James Madejski, who are also part of the writing team. Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, Toru Nakahara, Fowler and Elba himself will executive produce the series. In addition, creatives Ged Wright, Brandon Trost, Jorma Taccone and Carol Banker will direct several episodes.
