In 2021, PlayStation announced an alliance with Firewalk Studios, a company made up of veterans who worked at Bungie. Apparently, Sony is more than happy with their work, as it has just announced that it will buy Firewalk Studios and add it to PlayStation Studios.
Through a statement, Hermen Hults, head of PlayStation Studios, welcomed this new development team. We know that he is already working on a AAA title that will have a multiplayer focus and will be available for both PlayStation 5 and PC.
WHY DID PLAYSTATION BUY FIREWALK STUDIOS?
Hults noted that they have been impressed by Firewalk Studios' talent since they announced their partnership years ago. They know that the experience of its veteran members is invaluable and will help them in their project to expand into multiplayer games.
"The studio shares our passion for creating inspiring worlds grounded in exceptional gameplay, and we want to continue to invest in their mission. We’re excited for Firewalk to bring their technical and creative expertise to PlayStation Studios to help grow our live service operations and deliver something truly special for gamers." said the executive.

WHAT IS FIREWALK STUDIOS?
Firewalk Studios was born in 2018 and its offices are located in Washington, United States. It emerged as part of ProbablyMonsters, an independent AAA games company founded Harold Ryan, former president and CEO of Bungie.
Among its ranks it has talented developers such as Tony Hsu, studio manager, and Ryan Ellis, gameplay director. Both previously worked at Bungie and collaborated with Activision. It currently has about 150 employees who will now work on the multiplayer project for PlayStation Studios.
"We've assembled an amazing team at Firewalk Studios, built specifically to bring memorable multiplayer experiences to players around the world,” said Tony Hsu, Studio Head of Firewalk Studios. “SIE has supported our team’s vision from the beginning and with the incredible creative power of the PlayStation Studio ecosystem. This exciting next step will help us transform that vision into a reality." said Hsu.
