PlayStation is working to expand its popular franchises beyond video games. Following the success of The Last of Us series, the company already has other projects in the pipeline for film and television. Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, recently revealed that they have many active productions at the moment.
During the most recent edition of the PlayStation podcast, the executive talked about their plans to adapt popular IP. We know that the company wants to please fans of the sagas and, at the same time, introduce them to new audiences. For that reason, Qizilbash is excited about all the projects on the way.
PLAYSTATION HAS 10 MORE FILM AND TELEVISION PRODUCTIONS IN THE PIPELINE
PlayStation is getting serious about increasing its presence in film and television. Thanks to Qizilbash we know that the company already has at least 10 adaptations and all of them are already in production. What's interesting is that the executive confirmed that there will not only be live-action adaptations, as he stated that they are also preparing animated projects.
"We've got ten projects in various stages of development, which is really exciting. Film, television, a little bit of animation as well, and what's really exciting for me is the diversity of the stories we've got." Qizilbash revealed.
At the time of writing, God of War, Horizon and Twisted Metal series have already been confirmed. On the other hand, HBO is already working on The Last of Us Season 2. As for movies, Ghost of Tsushima, Gran Turismo and Days Gone productions are on the way.
On the other hand, we also know that there is a Jak and Daxter project, but it is not yet clear whether it will come to film or television. Finally, sources claim that PlayStation is working on a Gravity Rush movie, but the company has not said much about this project.
