One of the most important titles of the first third of the year was Hogwarts Legacy, which broke sales records and generated billions in profits in a matter of weeks. After the success of this ambitious project, it seems that its creators already have something new in sight.
According to reports, Avalanche Software posted a new jobs list on the Warner Bros. Discovery website. There, they echoed the success of the Harry Potter video game to attract applicants. The interesting part is the software engineer vacancy, as the chosen candidate will work on "an unannounced AAA title for consoles."
The job listing, which has been removed since then, did not reveal any further details about the nature of the project and only detailed the tasks that the person who gets the job will have to carry out, including "developing game systems" and "creating and maintaining tools for the production of AAA titles."
As reported by ScreenRant, a similar job listing can be found on the Warner Bros. Discovery careers page. Although the same duties are detailed, the text is a little different. Specifically, the part about the "unannounced AAA title" is missing.
Considering that director Alan Tew revealed a few months ago that there were no plans to develop DLC or expansions for Hogwarts Legacy, it is most likely that Avalanche Software is already working on a new project. In any case, we recommend taking this information with caution.
Hogwarts Legacy sold 12 million units worldwide and made over $850 million in just 2 weeks. According to reports, it sold 256% more than expected. After this impressive success, Warner Bros. Games expressed interest in turning this title into a franchise. With this in mind, it is easy to think that the developing studio is working on a sequel. We will have to wait to find out.
But tell us, are you excited about this news? What do you think will be the next title from Avalanche Software? Let us know in the comments.
Hogwarts Legacy is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with versions for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch around the corner.
