The Spanish Inquisition is the institution that caused one of the most terrible periods in history, which began in the 12th century. Several centuries later, this institution was related to a 21st-century video game in a strange and probably incorrect way.
Having a posterior origin, early video games typically took inspiration from movies, but over time, this relationship became two-way, and today it is common for cinema to be based on video games to project their narrative. However, there are other cases where the influence is by mistake, such as what just happened with Dragon Age: Inquisition and the latest movie starring acclaimed actor Russell Crowe (300).
We're talking about The Pope's Exorcist, a film based on real events that reveal the case of Father Gabriele Amorth (Russell Crowe), one of the highest-ranking clergy who carried out hundreds of exorcisms in real life.
IS DRAGON AGE CANON IN THE INQUISITION? THE FILM SEEMS TO THINK SO
Without getting into spoiler territory, at one point, the supposedly symbol of the Tribunal of the Holy Office of the Inquisition, better known as the Spanish Inquisition, is shown.
However, what caught people's attention is that the symbol was recognized by the audience and pointed out as the symbol of the Inquisition faction in Dragon Age: Inquisition, which is not the same as the real Inquisition; in fact, they have no relation.
As you can see below, thanks to Twitter user Kelgrid, the movie shows a symbol engraved on a surface, highlighting an eye and a sword, and refers to it as relating to the Inquisition, but it's very different from the real symbol, featuring an olive tree, a cross, and a sword.
Can we talk about how "The Pope's Exorcist" (yeah that film with Russell Crowe) uses the inquisition symbol from DRAGON AGE INQUISITION as the real-world-spanish-inquisition symbol?

For what it's worth, the official Seal of the Tribunal of the Holy Office of the Inquisition is kinda hard to make punchy. pic.twitter.com/L9hHXsHMLx

It's not known if it was deliberate and there was some kind of association with BioWare, although it honestly seems more like an honest mistake.
However, it's important to mention that many users believe it was a mistake due to a lack of deep research since searching for "Inquisition Symbol" on the internet shows the first results as the logos of Dragon Age: Inquisition and Warhammer 40,000. And that is believed to be what the movie's executives did.
