It is no secret that GameStop is going through one of its worst moments and that its workers are tired of poor working conditions. Another proof of this is that a store in Michigan was left without workers on the launch day of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as they all quit in protest.
According to the details, several players arrived early to the store to get their copy of the game. However, they were surprised to find the doors closed and a notice from the workers. In it they explained the reasons for their massive resignation and lashed out at their management.
GameStop employees quit and raised their voices at the debut of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
In their note, the workers apologized to loyal customers, as they know that the store closure affected them. At the same time, they asked for understanding, as they are fed up with the working conditions and the demands of their bosses.
"Unfortunately due to poor working conditions, the staff of the Brighton GameStop have decided to resign, effective immediately." reads the beginning of the note.
The workers pointed the finger at the branch's management and accused them of overwork, poor pay and not valuing their employees. For that reason, they all decided to quit that day and take advantage of the debut of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to magnify their message.
"Management overworks, under pays, and under-appreciates its frontline workers, sets unrealistic expectations and constantly threatens termination for any employee that cannot exceed them." the workers stated.
Some players decided to take a picture of the message and share it on social media. The community gave their support to the workers and lamented the situation. Meanwhile, no GameStop representative has commented on the matter.
