Amazon and Blockbuster mock Netflix; criticize charging for shared accounts

The streaming platform changed its policies and nobody is happy.

Netflix is facing a wave of criticism after restricting the option to share accounts. Now, subscribers must pay a little more for each extra user who uses their service outside their home. The competition didn't miss the opportunity and took advantage of the moment to mock Netflix.

Amazon used Prime Video's social media to criticize the service's policy change. To do this, they recalled a message that Netflix published in March 2017 and that has aged very poorly: "Love is sharing a password," Netflix affirmed back then.

As if that weren't enough, Amazon posted an image showing the Prime Video interface with several profiles and a clear message: "Who's watching? Everyone who has our password."

EVEN BLOCKBUSTER JOINED THE CRITICISM AGAINST NETFLIX

To everyone's surprise, Blockbuster also joined the wave of criticism against Netflix. They posted a message on social media that quickly went viral. In it, they reproached Netflix for their new policy and reminded them that they didn't have a problem if users loaned out the movies they rented.

"A friendly reminder that when you used to rent movies from us, we didn't care who you shared them with... as long as you returned them on time," wrote Blockbuster.

As expected, the message did not go unnoticed by Twitter users, who criticized Netflix and claimed they will abandon the service.
