Since the debut of Assassin's Creed in 2007, Ubisoft has exploited the franchise and as a result has released many games in the series. However, with Assassin's Creed Mirage, they want to be so faithful to the origins of the franchise that it will add something that evokes nostalgia for longtime fans of the series.
Ubisoft had already made it clear that Assassin's Creed Mirage would have a change of focus compared to recent installments in the series and, while it would be on a smaller scale, it would seek to reincorporate elements that made the franchise great.
In a new video, members of the creative development team revealed that to build the world of Assassin's Creed Mirage, which will be set in Baghdad, they relied on three pillars of the early titles: parkour, stealth, and executions.
After putting themselves in the shoes of fans and asking what kind of Assassin's Creed they wanted to play, Ubisoft's creatives identified that they wanted to not only return to the visual aspect of the original game but also to its narrative and more details from the roots of the series, such as gameplay.
Thus, they decided to incorporate parkour similar to that of the Ezio Auditore trilogy, gameplay with verticality, and mechanics from the past that pay homage to the origins of the series.
ASSASSIN'S CREED MIRAGE WILL PAY HOMAGE TO THE ORIGINAL TITLES OF ALTAÏR AND EZIO
It is important to remember that Assassin's Creed Mirage takes place 300 years before the original game, starring Altaïr. It will tell the story of Basim and how he became a master assassin. You may recognize this character because he was introduced as a new character in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. This new installment will also have the stealth of old, with new ways to hide and attack, improvements in artificial intelligence for surveillance and character detection. The ability to blend in with groups of people to avoid being discovered and attack when the time is right will also return.
Something very interesting is that Ubisoft revealed a surprise for longtime fans of the franchise, as it will be possible to select a "nostalgic visual filter," which basically consists of a layer of desaturated bluish-gray color that will give a look similar to the original 2007 game, as you can see in the above image (left, with filter; right, without filter).
