So far, Nintendo has not said anything about the successor to the Nintendo Switch; however, it seems to be a matter of time before they do. Especially after Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision, confirmed that the new Nintendo console is already in the works and even indicated that it will have a similar power to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Recently, Kotick testified as part of the trial between Activision Blizzard, Microsoft, and the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC). There, the executive spoke about his relationship with Nintendo, making it clear that he thought the Nintendo Switch would fail and that's why he didn't provide the support such a successful console would deserve.
In his testimony, Kotick also pointed out that Nintendo is already working on the successor to the Nintendo Switch. He knows this because the head of Activision has exchanged emails with Shuntaro Furukawa, President of Nintendo, to discuss this new hardware.
According to Kotick, the new Nintendo console will have a power similar to that of the eighth-generation consoles, namely the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This is why he believes that there is a high possibility that Activision Blizzard can release attractive games for the successor to the Nintendo Switch.
"Since it's getting closer to the eighth-generation platforms and what we previously offered on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, it is reasonable to think that we can create something appealing for the next-generation Switch," Kotick said.
