A few weeks ago, Nicola Sebastiani stepped down as head of PlayStation Studios Mobile, a division Sony founded in August 2022 to expand into mobile gaming. It seems that things are not going quite right, as the company has just lost another important executive in that area.
Michail Katkoff, will leave PlayStation Studios Mobile just a few months after Sony acquired Savage Game Studios, the studio he was head of. Now the developer focused on mobile games will lose its leader in an unexpected way.
Head of Savage Game Studios leaves PlayStation
Katkoff is an industry veteran with a lot of experience in the mobile sector. In 2020, he joined Nadjim Adjir and Michael McManus to found Savage Game Studios. A few years later, Sony took notice of his work and acquired the studio in 2022.
Now, the developer had a major casualty, as Katkoff will leave his position and completely leave the company less than 1 year after Sony's acquisition. So, everything suggests that there are some problems at PlayStation Studios Mobile; however, there are no details about it.
Katkoff published a farewell message where he is satisfied with the work he did. He also takes the opportunity to wish good luck to the rest of the team. He also stresses that he is confident that the project will come to fruition.
"I’d like to believe I’ve done my fair part in taking the company from zero to one. Now I’m eager to watch from the side as Nadjim and Mike take it from one to one hundred.
“In the same breath, I wish nothing but the best to Olivier Courtemarche and Kris Davis who are leading PlayStation’s charge onto mobile. Can’t wait to play all the amazing games from all the fantastic developers!" said Katkoff.
The creative did not talk about his next step in the industry nor did he elaborate on the reasons for his departure from Savage Game Studios. The company is currently working on a AAA mobile game with action and game-as-a-service elements.
