Capcom has many mythical franchises in its hands, but unfortunately several of them have been inactive for quite some time. Fortunately, the studio revealed that it has plans to revive some of them in the future.
In a Q&A session, Capcom surprisingly talked about the future of Onimusha and Sengoku Basara, franchises that were quite popular in the past and are currently inactive.
Onimusha and Sengoku Basara could return in the future
Capcom was questioned about what will happen with sagas such as Onimusha, Sengoku Basara, among others. The company surprised with its answer, as it stated that they are thinking about a plan to expand the series with future releases.
"We are carrying out discussions regarding the future expansion of these titles so they can be enjoyed by a wide audience," said a company spokesperson.
You're probably aware that Onimusha recently returned with an Onimusha: Warlords remaster and an anime. However, Capcom has not talked about other possible projects in the franchise. The series has several sequels and spin-offs, and still has quite a few fans who would undoubtedly love to see a new installment.
On the other hand, Sengoku Basara has been absent since 2014, the year its last main installment debuted. While it had a few spin-offs in subsequent years, the reality is that it is another forgotten Capcom saga.
It is a multimedia franchise that has anime adaptations, so Capcom could take advantage of it and revive it in a big way to get the attention of its players. While the developer plans to do something with the franchises in the future, for now there are no new projects confirmed.
