Redfall did not meet expectations and is considered one of the worst games of the year; however, there are several Xbox users who are convinced that it is a great title and that its poor reception was due to exaggerations by the community.
Recently, several players who still enjoy Redfall spoke to Kotaku and told their experience with the title. While they accepted that it has some flaws, they believe it is not as bad as people say, so they came to its defense.
Players defend Redfall despite its disastrous launch
Despite all the controversies and problems, Redfall still has a loyal base of players who spend hours in its world. One player known as Eh_stev3 recounted that he initially bought the most expensive edition of the game and enjoyed it for 1 hour before making a refund on Steam.
The fan subsequently decided to give the game another chance, but via Xbox Game Pass. He acknowledged that it was then that he began to enjoy the title and its cycle of taking down enemies across the map.
"You’re just there to grind enemies, gain levels and unlock new gear. And in fairness that part of Redfall’s loop is solid," the gamer stated.
Other members of the Xbox community feel similarly. From their perspective, Redfall has good things and not everything is a disaster as certain gamers argue. Some believe that the vampire title has something special that makes it different from other offerings in the genre.
"There are plenty of legitimate complaints about the game—many elements felt as though they needed more time and attention to be considered a polished experience—however, there are far too few four-player narrative co-op games, and Redfall actually stacks up against them quite well," commented another fan of the game.
From this perspective, some players believe that the criticism of the game was exaggerated, as it offers very solid elements despite its shortcomings. For this reason, they believe that Redfall went through a wave of unfair criticism and that, in the end, it is a great game.
