After several rumors, Electronic Arts confirmed this morning that it is working on a Black Panther game. The project is in the hands of Cliffhanger Games, a new AAA studio based in Seattle.
EA revealed that they will be working closely with Marvel Games to deliver a cool experience for fans of the superhero. Through a statement, the company talked about the potential of their new studio and how ambitious their new title will be.
Black Panther will be a AAA single-player game
Cliffhanger Games has among its ranks veterans who have worked on major games and franchises, such as Halo Infinite, God of War, Call of Duty and others. The team is led by Kevin Stephens, who worked at Monolith Productions, studio of the Middle-earth series.
The company's mission is to leverage the Black Panther world and characters to create a compelling AAA game. It will be a single-player title that will feature an "expansive and reactive" world. For now, there are no details about its release date, story or information about the platforms it will debut on.
"We’re dedicated to delivering fans a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game. Wakanda is a rich Super Hero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do," Stephens commented.
Marvel Games will help Cliffhanger Games so that the recreation of Wakanda and its characters will be as the fans expect. The companies stressed that they will pay close attention to detail and respect the authenticity of the franchise.
"We want our game to enable players to feel what it’s like to be worthy of the Black Panther mantle in unique, story-driven ways, and we want Cliffhanger Games to empower everyone on our team as we collaborate to bring this amazing world to life," the creative added.
