The DualSense for PlayStation 5 is a comfortable controller with several unique features, but it has one huge problem: its battery life is very short. While in theory, a full charge should last you around 12 hours of gameplay, the reality is quite different. Fortunately, there's a small trick that might help mitigate this situation.
According to John Glasscock, a content creator with over 800,000 subscribers on YouTube, there's a little trick that will allow you to enjoy a bit more playtime between full charges of the DualSense. As you may imagine, it has to do with disabling a default feature that you may not make much use of.
One of the elements that sets the DualSense apart is its built-in microphone. If you didn't know, this microphone is turned on by default, and you have the opportunity to change that. To do so, you simply need to go into your PlayStation 5 settings and look for the option to turn it off, as demonstrated by the YouTuber in his video.
Another option is to reduce the volume of the DualSense's built-in speaker, which can be done in the sound settings menu. Additionally, you can turn off haptic feedback or adjust the intensity of the trigger resistance. The latter can be done in the controller settings accessed through the accessories menu.
You can learn more about it in Glasscock's video:
But how much does this help? We haven't tested it yet, so we owe you that answer. What is certain, though, is that disabling these features will make the controller require less power, allowing you to use it for a longer period of time. We recommend following the instructions to see the impact it has on your gaming hours.
