Elon Musk shook the Twitter world by killing the platform and giving it a new name and identity, "X." However, the gaming community didn't let it slide, especially Xbox, which has a history with the letter "X" dating back more than 20 years to the classic Xbox console.
In the midst of the scandal created by Musk's decision to rebrand Twitter, the official Xbox account didn't miss the chance to remind him that they had already explored this idea a long time ago. They shared an image of the original design of the Xbox during its development and when its commercial strategy was being discussed. This early design featured a huge silver "X" (it was the early 2000s, and everything had to be futuristic and silver) with a green circle in the middle, symbolizing the idea of a power core and the origin of Xbox.

The design was heavily criticized at the time, but it was only a prototype used for feedback. Eventually, the world received a black, square console with the "X" prominently displayed on its top. While it was still larger than the competition, it was a more powerful console, and its design has become iconic in gaming history.
As we delve into this unusual situation, it's worth mentioning that the Xbox community isn't happy with Twitter's name change, and many have asked Microsoft to take legal action against Elon Musk for using the "X," as they find it too similar to what's currently used to identify Xbox Series X|S.
