Konami has several projects related to Silent Hill in the works. One of the first ones to be available is Silent Hill: Ascension, which will present a very different approach from a game. New material from the title has just been leaked, and fans are liking it.
As part of the San Diego Comic-Con 2023 event, Konami shared what they claim to be the opening scene of Silent Hill: Ascension. This footage was shown behind closed doors, but it's now circulating on the Internet.
Fans are not happy with the new video of Silent Hill: Ascension
The nearly 2.5-minute sequence shows a conversation between two women apparently participating in a ritual to ward off a demonic entity, revealing the threat that will be present in this experience and ultimately leading to a fateful fate for one of the characters.
The problem is that many fans who have already seen this scene were disappointed.
"The old Silent Hill trailers were well-made, reminiscent of psychological horror movies like Lost Highway," wrote Reddit user Cure_Pain. "This, however, looks very basic. Like a death scene from Until Dawn."
"This feels more and more like another chapter in the book 'Western Developers Ruin Silent Hill'," commented user boogaboom, while other fans criticized the appearance of the characters and Konami's decision to make Silent Hill: Ascension the first game to be released in the series after over 10 years of drought.
Although there were many negative comments, others gave the project the benefit of the doubt since it is not yet available, and the only things we've seen are 2 trailers. The final experience might still meet expectations.
What will Silent Hill: Ascension be about?
Genvid Entertainment, the project's creators, have explained that it is an interactive experience that will take the premise of the original Silent Hill and allow a broader perspective, addressing it from global locations, and showcasing how unresolved trauma and issues can impact the relationships of those affected, as well as their families and the surrounding community. The appeal of Silent Hill: Ascension lies in its mystery and getting to know the story of these characters.
The audience will be able to understand what happens to the affected individuals and also influence them, helping them find redemption or subjecting them to more traumas.
