Resident Evil 4 is one of the video games with the most re-releases in history, and its latest official remake is one of the best versions so far. While Capcom did a magnificent job, the reality is that it could have been different, just like this new Resident Evil 4 remake that turns it into a 2D game.
We're talking about Resident Evil 4: 2D Edition, a game that takes Resident Evil 4 and transforms it into a 2D side-scrolling game. The game is being built with GZDoom, an open-source tool that uses the original DOOM and its engine, allowing fans to create levels, mods, and even new games.
Using this tool, DooMero, the creator of the mod, reimagined the classic game to offer a different perspective and a new way to play. It's worth mentioning that the project took years to develop because its creator would abandon it at times. However, the success of the Resident Evil 4 remake motivated him to create his own version.
Without further ado, here's the video showcasing Resident Evil 4: 2D Edition in action:
The bad news is that this 2D remake of Resident Evil 4 is not playable yet. However, DooMero says that he plans to release a demo to allow fans to try out this project. We'll keep an eye out and inform you when we know more about it.
