Since its official reveal, Mortal Kombat 1 has quickly become one of the most anticipated video games of the second half of 2023. Although its full release still seems distant, you'll soon have the opportunity to play it for a limited time. However, there's a condition you need to meet.
In a recent announcement, NetherRealm Studios finally shared the first official details of the closed Beta, which now has a start date. Make sure to mark these days on your calendar.
When does the Mortal Kombat 1 Beta start and what does it include?
The studio led by Ed Boon revealed that the closed Beta for the highly anticipated fighting game will be available from August 18 to 21. However, it's important to note that only players who pre-order some editions on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will have the chance to participate.
Now, which characters will be available in the Mortal Kombat 1 trial session? The official Mortal Kombat Twitter account revealed that participants will be able to play as Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, Kenshi, Kitana, Johnny Cage, and Li Mei. Additionally, Kano, Sonya, Jax, and Frost will appear as Kameo Fighters. Unfortunately, there will be only 2 stages: The Teahouse and Johnny Cage's Mansion.

Players who participated in the network test a couple of weeks ago don't have guaranteed access to this Beta. Furthermore, NetherRealm Studios revealed that an active Xbox LIVE Gold or PS Plus subscription will be required to play. Crossplay will not be available for this Beta.
It is expected that during this testing session, players will see the changes made by the developers based on community feedback. Another piece of good news is that Ed Boon revealed in a Twitter Q&A that there will be more surprises coming very soon. One of the announcements will take place on the EVO 2023 stage.
So, are you excited about this title? Do you plan to participate in the Beta? Let us know in the comments.
Mortal Kombat 1 will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5 starting September 19.
