In some instances, news emerges that demonstrates that kindness, altruism, and empathy still exist in society. In this case, a police officer earned applause from the community after helping a young man who only wanted to find a job to buy a PlayStation 5 and school supplies.
The events took place in Hapeville, Georgia, United States. It all started when residents of a neighborhood in the southern part of Fulton County called the Police Department to report suspicious activity because a young man appeared to be going from door to door, seemingly like an intruder.
Officer Eric Colleran, who has 7 years of experience with the Police Department, responded to the call and discovered that the suspect was Keonte Evans, a young man just 16 years old. "You may be told one thing over the radio, but when you get there, it's something completely different," he commented in an interview.

According to reports, the teenager identified himself and respectfully explained to the officer that he was going from door to door looking for a job. Specifically, he was asking if he could mow lawns, remove weeds, or trim bushes in the neighborhood to earn money to buy school clothes for his 5 younger siblings and a PlayStation 5 for himself.
Officer Eric Colleran cleared up the misunderstanding with the neighbors and left the scene. The kindness, honesty, and manners of the 16-year-old boy moved him, so he decided to team up with his colleagues to buy a gift and make a selfless gesture.
A couple of days later, the officer returned to the residence and surprised Keonte Evans with an incredible gift: a brand new PlayStation 5 and a PS Plus subscription. Of course, the young man couldn't believe his eyes, and he thanked the gesture with a strong hug.

"If someone does this for you, you can't help but be excited. So I gave him a hug, a big hug. It's very sweet; not many people do these things for kids," Keonte Evans commented. "I didn't do this to end up in the news. I just tried to help him and make him understand that if you work hard and are honest, good things will come to you," Eric Colleran declared.
While the 16-year-old boy is still looking for a part-time job to help his family buy new clothes before the next school year, he finds time to play with the PlayStation 5 every day.
