It is a fact that content creators are willing to do almost anything to get the attention of their audience. Many times, this can get out of control, and if you don't believe it, you can ask Kai Cenat, one of the biggest Twitch streamers. It turns out that this guy was going to give away a PlayStation 5, but it all ended in riots in New York City.
Kai Cenat, a content creator with over 100,000 active subscribers on Twitch, announced that he would hold a raffle in person to give away a PlayStation 5. The meeting was scheduled to take place in Union Square Park, one of the most popular parks in New York City.
This turned out to be a recipe for disaster. Thousands of people ran to the park where Kai Cenat was, and many of them caused riots. For example, there were so many people that some drivers got stuck; there were also people climbing on public property, such as statues or a gazebo. As a result, the authorities had to take action, using tear gas and arresting several individuals. According to reports, Cenat was one of those arrested.
According to CBS reports, approximately 2000 people showed up trying to win a console. While there were material losses reported, fortunately, it seems that no one was injured in this chaos. The situation escalated to the point where the New York City Police Department had to deploy 1000 units to control the situation.
