A few days ago, a report emerged that hinted that Immortals Fenyx Rising[/i was going to have a sequel, but that Ubisoft canceled it. Today, a new report has surfaced indicating that this information is accurate and that it was going to be a highly ambitious project inspired by gems like [i]ELDEN RING and The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.
According to information from Axios, the sequel to Immortals Fenix Rising was codenamed Oxygen. This sequel began its development in 2021 at Ubisoft Quebec, a company that intended to create a new open-world adventure that deviated from the Ubisoft formula.
"The goal was to make a game very different from the rest of Ubisoft's portfolio," said a source familiar with details of the canceled project.
In Oxygen, players would have visited a fictional version of the Polynesian archipelago, where they would interact with the gods of the region to acquire elemental powers and the ability to shape-shift. The world would have been composed of several islands, which you could explore freely.
One of the most interesting details is that it would have been inspired by the structure of ELDEN RING. This would give you few hints about how to progress in the game, allowing you the freedom to explore the world at your own pace. What's even better is that you would need to follow animals, track the wind, or observe the stars to figure out where to go. It's worth mentioning that, unlike Immortals, this installment would also feature more realistic graphics.
Unfortunately, Ubisoft went through a cost-cutting process in which several projects were canceled. One of them was Oxygen.
And you, what do you think of this news? Do you believe the sequel to Immortals would have been a success? Tell us in the comments.
