Sony revealed this morning all the details about Project Q, a portable device focused on game streaming for PlayStation 5. We now know that this product will hit the market under the name PlayStation Portal, as the company considers it a means to bring the full potential of PS5 in the palm of your hand.
The device will be available later this year, on an exact date to be confirmed. Gamers will be able to add it to their collection for $199.99 USD. Now, what will it offer? PlayStation Portal will have an 8-inch LCD screen that will offer 1080p and up to 60 fps.
In addition, it will feature DualSense technology in compatible games. This implies that it will feature adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. The PlayStation Portal will connect via Wi-Fi to PS5 and will be able to play compatible titles that are installed.
In this way, users will be able to enjoy their titles in places other than the living room and free up some TV in their home for others to occupy. On the other hand, games that can be streamed in the cloud via PlayStation Plus are not supported.
New PlayStation headphones are on their way
Sony also confirmed new details about its new line of PlayStation headphones. The Pulse Elite is a wireless headset that promises great lossless audio quality, a retractable microphone and AI noise cancellation. It will come bundled with a charging cradle and will retail for $149.99 USD.
On the other hand, there are the Pulse Explore, the brand's new earbuds that will offer premium audio in a portable form. They will feature the same noise-cancelling technology and a charging case. They will retail for $199.99 USD.
Finally, Sony talked about PlayStation Link, the new audio technology that powers these products. It offers low latency, lossless audio and easy connectivity with PlayStation Portal and PS5.
