A Kirby Game That Never Released in America Comes to Switch

As is customary with Nintendo, surprises in terms of releases for their online service, Nintendo Switch Online, arrive without prior notice. This time, the lineup of titles is somewhat unique, as it consists of games that were only released in Japan, and one in particular will delight Kirby fans.

What are the new video games coming to Switch Online?

Moments ago, the official Nintendo of America Twitter account revealed the old video games that are now available to subscribers of Switch Online + Expansion Pack on the hybrid console. First off, we have a debut never before seen on this side of the world, it's Kirby's Star Stacker, also known as Kirby's Super Star Stacker in its Super Famicom version, which was never released on the SNES.

In case you didn't know, Kirby's Super Star Stacker is a remake of the original game that debuted years earlier on the Game Boy with a puzzle-oriented gameplay inspired by Dr. Mario. However, for this Super Famicom remake, a story mode was added. This will be the first time this title is played outside of Japan.

Next, two Famicom | NES releases were announced. The first one is Joy Mech Fight, a mecha fighting game developed by the Nintendo R&D1 team and released in 1993. It is known for being one of the last titles for the original Nintendo console and for fully utilizing its hardware capabilities.

Following that is Downtown Nekketsu March Super-Awesome Field Day!, a sports challenge game developed by Technōs Japan Corp. and released in 1990, part of the Kunio-Kun franchise. Finally, Switch Online received an adventure game for the Game Boy called Quest for Camelot, developed by Titus Interactive and released in 1998 for the successful handheld console.
