When asked what Pokémon game has the largest Pokédex, what's the first thing that comes to mind? You might think of Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, the latest releases for the 3DS. If that's your answer, you'd be mistaken because the real record-holder is Pokémon GO.
This week, Pokémon GO received an update that introduced some Paldea creatures into the mobile game. Thanks to this, trainers can now capture Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, and other creatures introduced in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
With this addition, Pokémon GO's Pokédex now includes 814 creatures. This surpasses the 814 creatures found in the Pokédex of Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon and makes it the game with the most creatures. It's worth noting that there are currently 1010 Pokémon in total, not counting the 10 extra creatures coming to Pokémon Scarlet & Violet in their expansions.
Remember that starting with Pokémon: Sword & Shield, Game Freak stopped including all Pokémon in each installment of the series. It was a controversial decision; however, the studio explained that balance and development time constraints prevented all creatures from appearing in every game.
This also means that, at least for a while, Pokémon GO will have the most extensive Pokédex. This is because it will continue to receive creatures from future generations, and it's unlikely that a future main series game will include all Pokémon.
