Starfield is a massive game that offers hours and hours of content. While it's clear that many players will ignore a significant percentage of optional missions and activities, it's expected that most will make enough progress in the main campaign to at least explore outer space for the first time.
Undoubtedly, one of the great attractions of this science fiction RPG is taking our ship and traveling among the stars. Although this system has limitations due to the prominence of loading screens and menus, it has its charm, and the first time is exciting.
That's why it's surprising that a considerable portion of the game's community hasn't even seen the stars of outer space because they haven't made a gravitational jump to cross humanity's final frontier.
25% of Starfield players haven't even traveled into outer space
According to data from TrueAchievements, only 75% of players have earned the "For All, Into the Starfield" achievement, which is the first one you obtain in the game. This means that approximately 25% of users have remained in the initial segment of the adventure and have never traveled to space.
Because this achievement is linked to the progression of the main campaign, it's surprising that about a quarter of the community hasn't unlocked it. That said, there are a couple of logical reasons that could explain this curious phenomenon.
First, we must remember that Starfield debuted day one on Game Pass. This means that many players decided to give it a try without commitment but abandoned it before earning the achievement. Of course, there is also the possibility that users decided to thoroughly explore the initial area.
According to the information, the achievement "For All, Into the Starfield" has an 88% unlock rate on Steam. This data could indicate that users on the platform invest more time in the game because they had to pay for it. Additionally, it's important to note that mods disable achievements, which affects the percentage.
How Many Players Does Starfield Have?
In the grand scheme of things, 75% is a healthy figure that demonstrates that the new Xbox Series X|S and PC exclusive is a success. That said, how many players does it have?
During launch week, Bethesda revealed that Starfield had already surpassed the 6 million player mark worldwide. The current numbers could be much higher.
The space-themed RPG achieved an impressive peak concurrent player count of 330,723 on Steam. As of writing, there are 178,195 people currently playing.
But tell us, have you already finished the main campaign? Let us know in the comments.
