The past few weeks have been very active for the video game market, with many high-caliber titles being released. The most powerful ones undoubtedly have been the exclusives from PlayStation and Nintendo, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Today we learn that Sony's exclusive is taking the lead.
Companies are making their latest financial reports public, and thanks to them, we can see interesting data, such as how many consoles and game copies have been sold.
How many millions did Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 sell?
We recently learned that Super Mario Bros. Wonder, in 2 weeks (14 days), managed to sell 4.3 million units worldwide, making it the game with the best debut in the series.
Sony wasted no time and today revealed that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 managed to sell more copies in less time. Precisely, the title developed by Insomniac Games surpassed the 5 million units sold mark in just 11 days.
These are very different titles, but the comparison is inevitable when considering that both are exclusives and were released on the same day (October 10). It is essential to note that the Nintendo Switch user base is 132 million, while that of the PlayStation 5 is 46 million; that is, just over a third of the Switch user base. This means that the adoption rate is better for PlayStation and its exclusive.
Another game that debuted on the same day is Sonic Superstars, but it wouldn't be fair to include it in the comparison because it is not exclusive but multiplatform, and SEGA has not revealed the number of units sold.
"Woo! We are proud to announce that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has sold over 5 million copies!" celebrated Insomniac Games. "Thanks to our incredible community for supporting us and helping us achieve this milestone!"
