The video game industry is going through a challenging time for its workers. Yes, there have been major launches that have broken sales records, but despite that, several companies have decided to cut staff in various divisions. Fortunately, some have taken a different path by raising the salaries of their employees.
We're talking about ATLUS, a studio best known for being responsible for franchises like ]Persona and Shin Megami Tensei. It was recently reported that this company made the decision to increase the salaries of its employees. This is a measure that will benefit not only veterans of the company but also new members.
According to a statement, ATLUS will raise the base salary of employees from ¥257,000 JPY to ¥300,000 JPY (approximately $1977 USD at the current exchange rate). That's not all! On average, the salary of all employees will increase by 15%.

Now, why did ATLUS make this decision while other companies are making significant cuts? According to the Japanese studio, this is a measure to retain their talent in order to continue expanding globally.
"The initial salary for new graduates will increase from ¥257,000 JPY to ¥300,000 JPY, and the average annual income of current employees will increase by 15%. In addition, due to the strong development of business overseas, since the fiscal year 2021, we have been offering performance-based bonuses based on worldwide profits," explained ATLUS.
