Obbe Vermeij, former Rockstar developer, is on everyone's lips. Over the past few days, he has revealed some very interesting information and secrets about several of the company's projects. However, his reports stopped abruptly, as the studio demanded him to stop talking about his past.
According to details, Vemeij received an email from Rockstar North where he was asked to stop sharing privileged information about various studio projects. This generated controversy among fans of the developer and its games, who are very interested in the history of its titles.
Rockstar doesn't want former employees to reveal its secrets
Vermeij left Rockstar North in 2009 after working on Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto IV, GTA: San Andreas and GTA: Vice City. A few days ago, it began publishing details about the development of those games and revealing information about projects that were cancelled.
The company was not happy with this idea, so it asked the developer to stop revealing information about his past projects. This upset some gamers, as they believe that the history of the studio and its games is very interesting and should be brought to light one way or another.
"I got an email from R*North. Apparently some of the OG's there are upset by my blog. I genuinely didn't think anyone would mind me talking about 20 year old games but I was wrong. Something about ruining the Rockstar mystique or something", the developer said.
Vermeij confirmed that he will close his blog and stop talking about the studio's projects. However, he will continue to share the occasional anecdote that, from his perspective, will not affect anyone. Finally, he noted that he will probably try to reveal more secrets in the future, but "in 1 decade or 2".
Gamers lamented the news and believe that Rockstar should take this opportunity to connect in a new way with their fans and release some of their secrets to the entire community.
