According to various sources, one of Final Fantasy most beloved installments will return at some point with an upgraded version. However, a developer who may be linked to the project denied the reports recently. For this reason, it seems that Final Fantasy Tactics will not be coming back with a remaster any time soon.
Dev denies the existence of a Final Fantasy Tactics remaster
In case you don't remember, the first hint about a remaster of the tactical RPG appeared in the Nvidia leak. Subsequently, Jason Schreier, one of the industry's most trusted sources, claimed that the project was real and already on its way.
Fans' excitement now turned to concern and disappointment, as Yasumi Matsuno, creator of the title, stated that there are currently no plans for a remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics. Thus, it seems that the project will not be coming, at least not soon.
On the other hand, the creative explained that Square Enix is the one who decides which titles to work on, so fans should turn to the company in case they want a new version of the strategy game. The news was a bucket of cold water for many, who already took the remastering for granted.
Expectations for such a project grew a few weeks ago, when Square Enix producer Ichiro Hazama stated that the Final Fantasy Tactics team had something in the works. Many fans speculated about a remaster, but Matsuno has now put some of their hopes to rest.
For many, Final Fantasy Tactics is considered one of the best installments of the series. So for years they have been asking for its return with a remaster or even a remake to match. We'll have to wait to find out if the RPG will return at some point or if fans will have to settle for other recent Square Enix games that revisit its concept.
