Lies of P is a game that initially surprised due to its resemblance to Bloodborne and then lived up to expectations generated from that. Thanks to this success, its developer, NEOWIZ, gained renown, and it seems that one of those interested in working closely with them is PlayStation.
Sony is known for forming alliances with companies like Square Enix but also for being the company that most supports indie studios with initiatives like the China Hero Project and the India Hero Project, acting as an incubator for promising projects while ensuring their arrival on PlayStation systems.
After Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard King, many have wondered how Sony will respond to such a purchase. Obviously, it won't be through a similar acquisition, but rather through the alliances that characterize it, and it seems to have its sights set on several Korean studios.
PlayStation to Partner with Lies of P Studio
We know this thanks to a report from the South Korean outlet MTN, which states that Sony is interested in forming alliances with companies such as Pearl Abyss (Crimson Desert, Black Desert), Com2uS (Summoners War: Sky Arena), and NEOWIZ.
These alliances would include capital investment from Sony. This means that the future productions of these companies would ensure their arrival on PlayStation platforms, as is the case with titles from the China Hero Project, for example. The report even mentions "securing exclusive content."
If this sounds like déjà vu, it's because just a few days ago, we reported that Sony had closed deals with South Korean companies NCSoft and SHIFT UP (Blade & Soul, Guild Wars) (Stellar Blade, GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE). This report dates back to mid-2023 and is noteworthy now because it also mentioned these two companies, and now that they've come true, it seems to be only a matter of time before the alliances with the Lies of P studio and others become official.
These Sony partnerships would come after Japan and South Korea worked this year to put aside the tension between them to start working together.
It's important to mention, however, that titles from other Sony initiatives, while they may arrive on PlayStation first, have also appeared on other consoles, like the Nintendo Switch. Therefore, it remains to be seen how these new alliances will work.
We'll keep you informed.
