According to the latest financial report from Sony, PlayStation 5 has already sold 46.6 million units worldwide, essentially matching the successful sales of the PS4. The system aims to be another triumph for the Japanese company, although that doesn't mean it hasn't experienced ups and downs, as shown in a recent report.
PS5 sells 1,696 units per hour worldwide
According to information from Finbold, the PS5 has an average daily sales rate of 40,705 units from January to October 2023, a period in which Sony's console finally overcame issues related to the pandemic in terms of manufacturing, distribution, and sales. It is revealed that the PS5 has sold 1,238,109 units per month, 285,718 per week, and even if you want to consider sales per hour, they amount to 1,696 consoles.
PS5 sales in 2023 have been very good, but not without low periods
Regarding the highest and lowest points in sales during the mentioned period, the PS5 peaked in March 2023 with 1,898,817 units. Interestingly, a significant drop is recorded, which is currently the lowest point with 1,221,162 units in April 2023, just one month later.
PS5 sales in 2023 found stability during May, June, and July before surging in August and September. However, in October of the same year, sales are reported at 1,228,434 units, a figure close to the lowest point of the year. Still, it is expected that the graph will rise significantly once information on sales at the beginning of the holiday season becomes available.
The report notes that the success of PS5 this year is possible because Sony ensured constant manufacturing, distribution, and availability of the console, made possible by improvements in the manufacturing process of its SoC.
